10 Smoothie Cleanse

This year marks 25 years in radio for me and I’ve decided I want to start my journey by living clean.  So, today I started JJ Smith’s 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse.  I’m doing the modified cleanse which consist of two green smoothies (one for breakfast and one for lunch), with one healthy meal for dinner, snack, and water/tea.  The only healthy meal a day may consist of a salad, sauteed veggies, fish or chicken (grilled or baked).  Avoid white sugar, meat, milk, cheese, alcohol, coffee, sodas, processed foods, fried foods and refined carbs during the entire ten days.

Expect your weight to fluctuate:  While detoxing, you may gain on some days, while other days you may lose weight.  This is perfectly normal.  Weight fluctuates due to three things in the body: muscle, fat, and water.  Muscle weighs the most – that’s why you can work out and build muscle and thereby gain weight.  But you’re actually making progress by building muscle because it will help you burn fat all day long.  For women, water is the biggest culprit, due to our hormones.

Many of us gain five to ten pounds of water weight during our cycle.  For some, excess salt/sodium causes water to be trapped under the tissues in the body, making us weigh more and look bloated and puffy!  So don’t sweat it if your weight loss is a little up and down.  When it’s up every week, week after week, then you know you have a problem!  Also look into getting a Tanita scale – it will tell you your weight and percentage of muscle, fat, and water in the body.  This is helpful for people who work out!

Day #8 Spinach Kale Berry

2 handfuls kale

2 handfuls spinach

2 cups water

1 apple, cored, quartered

1 banana peeled

1 1/2 cups frozen blueberries

2 packs stevia

2 tablespoons ground flax seed

Optional: 1 scoop of protein powder

Place leafy greens and water into blender and blend until mixture is green juice like consistency.  Stop blender and add remaining ingredients.  Blend until creamy.

Spiritual thought:  Psalms 119:164 Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.

Take a Praise Pause:  I don’t think anything blesses God more than when we stop right in the middle of what we’re doing sometimes and lift our hands to worship Him or take a moment to bow down before Him and say, “I love you, Lord.”  In the scripture for today, the psalmist says he took time seven times a day and all day long to praise God.

Think about a businessman, for example, maybe the president of a large company.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if two or three times a day, he would close the door to his office, turn the lock, kneel, and say, “God, I just want to take some time to worship You.  Father, all these things You are giving me – the business, the money, the success – are great, but I just want to worship You.  I magnify You.  You are so wonderful.  I love You.  You are all I need.  Father, I worship You.  Jesus, I worship You.  Holy Spirit, I worship You.  I believe that if the businessman did that, he would never need to be concerned about his business, his finances, or success.  All of those things would be taken care of.

Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.
