Punxsutawney Phil the Groundhog boogied out of his hole and saw his shadow therefore predicting 6 more weeks of winter. The February 2nd Groundhog Day tradition in Punxsutawney, PA has been celebrated since 1887. If Phil sees his shadow and returns to his hole, he has predicted six more weeks of winter-like weather. If Phil does not see his shadow, he has predicted an “early spring.”

In its recorded history Phil has saw his shadow 98 times, no shadow 15 times and 10 times the event was not recorded.
