The Motivational Moment during Sunday Joy with Ronnette Rollins encourages the listener to get motivated for whatever they may face during the week. In this Motivational Moment, Reverend Ron Harrison talks about the Importance of Having an Anchor.

A sign on a bridge near the Niagara Falls River says “Do you have an anchor? Do you know how to use it?”

Jeremiah 17:7-8 says “7 Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord; And whose hope is in the Lord. 8 For He shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”

Jeremiah notes the contrast between two kinds of people: those who are wicked and those who are righteous. The wicked are unfruitful. Unbelief turns life into what Jeremiah describes as a parched wasteland or a desert. In times of trouble, they have no inner strength on which to draw or sustain them. The righteous put their trust, hope and confidence in God and flourish like trees planted by water. The godly are fruitful and enduring. As believers, our root system is in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus is the living water and we are spiritually fed and we have the strength to withstand the trials of the world.

Jesus is our anchor! But just KNOWING about Jesus isn’t enough. We have to put our faith in him and trust him with our whole heart. So be sure your anchor holds and grips the solid rock!
