If you are waiting for someone else to do it for you, forget about it, it’s not going to happen! It is great to have accountability partners; however, we must be accountable to that which is important to us.
Procrastination gets us nowhere. What is it that you have been putting off? There is power shut up in you and the world is waiting for you to share it. The gift that you have, no other person will ever be able to share it the way that you will.
Do you have pages in notebooks of thoughts that you want to put into a book or some poetry that you have been crafting in the wee hours of the morning? What about pattern pieces that have been cut out and even pinned but never sewn. How many business plans have you written, talked about it with others but never took the first step to launch what belongs to you.
We do it all the time, talk about what we need to do or are preparing to do, but we allow excuses and procrastination to stop us in our tracks.
I love Proverbs because in my opinion, it tells it just as it is, straight no chaser. Look at what it says about procrastination, “Proverbs 13:4, “The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.”
We are almost half way through the year and some of us are still in a stuck place. The funny thing is, most of us have jobs or have had jobs and without fail we get up faithfully and get there even when we don’t feel like it, yet when it comes to our own dreams and goals, we don’t approach it with the same vigor. Think about it, I’m not suggesting that we not work our jobs because in many cases they are very necessary, but what about all the time when you are not working?
I dare you to change that course right now. Repurpose some of the time you spend doing things without purpose or benefit and become intentional about what you know is the call on your life. Remember it is that one thing that you just can’t get away from. Regardless of what else is happening in your life, that one thing keeps coming back into your thoughts. That is your purpose.
We have got a little more than half of this year left; will you take the challenge and step up and begin the steps toward what the Lord has called you to do? The world is waiting!
